At a glance

2027 is the Ding Wei Fire Goat year, from February 6, 2027 to January 25, 2028. Our theme is to give what matters a lasting place in your life. Ding’s traditional lamp-fire image draws our attention to what keeps a light burning; each birth-year branch adds a different question about support, change or commitment. Start with your sign below, even if you do not yet have a particular question.

RatAsk about the condition no one has said aloud. A kind offer is easier to trust when you understand what it involves.Zi–Wei harm is explained through a third-branch relationship: Zi opposes Wu, which joins Wei.
OxMake room for change while keeping the support you still need. Leaving an old arrangement need not mean starting alone.Chou–Wei is a six-clash pair: two opposing Earth branches.
TigerGive a promising beginning somewhere to take root. Who or what will help you keep going after the first excitement?Yin holds Jia, Bing and Wu; Wei holds Ji, Ding and Yi. We compare their Wood, Fire and Earth components.
RabbitLet a shared wish become part of ordinary life: a regular meeting, time together, or a creative practice you both protect.Mao and Wei connect the flourishing and storage positions in the Hai–Mao–Wei Wood grouping.
DragonNotice which resources are already available to you. A useful skill or an old friendship may need a place in your next step.Chen holds Yi, Wu and Gui; Wei holds Yi, Ji and Ding. Their shared Earth association conceals different contents.
SnakeBring someone into a decision you have been carrying privately. Common ground is a beginning you can build on.Si and Wei belong to the summer sequence Si–Wu–Wei; Wu is absent from this two-branch comparison.
HorseAsk what will make a relationship or commitment feel good to live inside, beyond the excitement of saying yes.Wu–Wei is a six-combination pair, our starting point for joining and continuing together.
GoatMark your own zodiac year with something meaningful to you. What would you like to renew, and what deserves a gentler expectation?Wei repeats in your animal-return year; the whole stem–branch pair returns only every sixty years.
MonkeyLet a good solution become something you can share. You should not have to be the only person who knows how everything works.Shen holds Geng, Ren and Wu; Wei holds Ji, Ding and Yi. Fire and Earth offer different relationships to Metal.
RoosterMake room for support as well as high expectations. A clear request is kinder, and more useful, than feeling nothing is ever enough. You holds Xin Metal. Annual Ding Fire controls Metal in the phase cycle, while Wei’s Earth generates it.
DogCare without becoming everyone’s referee. Responsibility feels different when the people involved also have a voice.Xu–Wei is read within the Chou–Xu–Wei punishment framework; the source distinguishes circumstances.
PigFind out whether a new connection shares your hopes before giving it all your time. Friendship can grow without an immediate obligation.Hai and Wei connect growth and storage in the Hai–Mao–Wei Wood grouping, with Mao absent.

Our reading of the Fire Goat year: what keeps your light burning?

In San Ming Tong Hui, Ding is described through stars and lamplight. The text considers the fuel that sustains a lamp and the conditions in which its light becomes visible. We use that image to ask what supports the things you care about: the time, companionship, confidence or practical help that lets them continue.

That gives our 2027 reading a different emphasis from 2026. With Bing Wu, the Fire Horse year, we focus on expression and taking part. With Ding Wei, we ask what gives a chosen commitment a lasting place. If you began something enthusiastically and now feel tired, the useful question may be what it needs around it, rather than whether you have failed.

Wei, the Goat branch, is associated with Earth and contains Ji Earth, Ding Fire and Yi Wood in the hidden-stem classification. The connections among those phases add to the image of sustaining and giving form. This is our chosen symbolic interpretation; your actual circumstances determine which part is useful to you.

Not sure what you want to ask? Start with what feels familiar

Perhaps you are ready for a change but do not know what you would lose. Perhaps you are tired of being the reliable one. Or perhaps nothing is wrong: you would simply like more warmth, enjoyment or direction in the year ahead. You do not need to turn that feeling into a perfect question before reading.

Find your birth-year animal, then notice which situation in its reading feels familiar. A wish for more space might lead to a conversation about how you spend time together. Feeling unappreciated might lead to asking for a specific kind of help. If an example does not fit, leave it; there is no need to find a problem to match your sign.

We use traditional relationships to choose the questions explored here. The life examples are our interpretations, offered to help you think and act with more clarity. They do not require you to believe that your animal sign has already decided the answer.

Combination, clash and harm answer different questions

These relationships belong to three different arrangements of the twelve branches. The six combinations pair branches in a set pattern, including Wu with Wei. The six clashes place branches opposite one another in the cycle, including Chou with Wei. The six-harm explanation in San Ming Tong Hui connects harm with both opposition and combination: Zi clashes with Wu, while Wei combines with Wu. The text uses that connection with the opposing branch to explain Zi–Wei harm.

That makes the distinction concrete. Horse begins with a joining relationship, Ox with an opposition, and Rat with a relation explained through another pairing. A shared element name does not replace those structures: Chou and Wei are both Earth branches and still occupy opposite positions. Likewise, the term “harm” names a rule in the traditional system rather than an accusation about a person.

We draw a different priority from each relationship. For Horse, we look for the care that lets a commitment last. For Ox, we weigh the support a change would remove against the freedom it might create. For Rat, we ask whether a promise depends on something that has not yet been discussed. You can use those questions in a real relationship without deciding in advance that one person is lucky and another is not.

Rabbit, Pig and Snake: different ways of finding common ground

Hai, Mao and Wei form the Wood three-combination grouping. In the traditional life-cycle explanation, Hai is the growth or birth position, Mao the flourishing position, and Wei the storage position for that grouping. These roles explain why the three branches are brought together despite not being consecutive in the branch sequence. They also give Pig and Rabbit different starting positions within the same group.

Mao–Wei connects the flourishing and storage positions; Hai–Wei connects the growth and storage positions with the middle member absent. San Ming Tong Hui distinguishes an incomplete set from a complete transformed grouping. Rabbit’s article therefore considers how an established shared direction can take a durable form, while Pig’s considers what a beginning connection still needs before it becomes a common undertaking. Those applications are ours; people with the missing zodiac animal are not substitutes for missing branches within one chart.

Si–Wu–Wei is different: it is a consecutive seasonal sequence associated with summer. Snake and Goat provide its two ends, with Wu absent. A seasonal sequence and a three-combination group are distinct ways of organising branches. For Snake, we use those two ends as an image of a conversation that has some common ground but still needs a connecting step. Naming that step is more helpful than assuming that agreement already exists.

Goat and Dog: renewal and responsibility

Goat repeats the annual Wei branch. This is the animal-return reference often called ben ming nian; it is not a repeat of every pillar. Wei is not in the conventional Chen, Wu, You and Hai self-punishment list used in the cited text. The Goat article compares actual Ding Wei, Ji Wei and Xin Wei birth years to show how a twelve-year animal return differs from the sixty-year return of both stem and branch.

Dog is discussed through the Chou–Xu–Wei punishment framework. This collection identifies the cited version and the limits of reading it from the year branch alone. The source itself does not permit treating every occurrence of a punishment label as a simple adverse verdict.

For Dog, we would examine the pressure of being expected to settle a dispute without having a say in what changes. Care can include asking the people involved to speak for themselves. For Goat, we would make space to mark the anniversary on your own terms: a shared meal, a letter to your future self, or an intention you want to carry forward.

Tiger, Dragon, Monkey and Rooster: look beyond one element label

These four signs have no direct six-combination, six-clash or six-harm pairing with Wei. We therefore compare the named components within their branches rather than invent a special pairing. A hidden stem is a stem traditionally assigned inside a branch; it is not automatically your Day Master.

Tiger’s Yin contains Jia Wood, Bing Fire and Wu Earth, while Wei contains Ji Earth, Ding Fire and Yi Wood. We use the movement from Wood through Fire to Earth as an analogy for something begun, expressed and given a lasting form. Our Tiger question is what will support the beginning after its first excitement. Dragon’s Chen contains Yi Wood, Wu Earth and Gui Water: its contents differ from Wei despite both being Earth branches. That is why our Dragon question concerns which resources you actually have, rather than treating every kind of support as interchangeable.

Monkey’s Shen contains Geng Metal, Ren Water and Wu Earth; Rooster’s You contains Xin Metal alone. Alongside annual Ding and Wei, Fire controlling Metal and Earth generating Metal are both relevant comparisons. We choose a theme of useful shaping with enough support, rather than a blanket verdict about Fire being good or bad for Metal.

For Monkey, that becomes a question about sharing a solution: could someone else understand and use it, so you are not always required to step in? For Rooster, it becomes a question about an expectation: have you, or the person you are asking, been given a clear purpose and a fair chance to meet it? These applications are ours. Compared with the outward expression of our 2026 reading, the emphasis here is on the conditions that let something continue.

Love, work and everyday life: turn a reading into something useful

Love and family: a relationship may have warmth but need a more workable shape. Our Horse reading begins with the joining relationship of Wu and Wei. If you are planning to share a home, we would talk about quiet time, visitors and who handles everyday tasks before assuming that love makes those questions unnecessary. Clarity can make room for tenderness.

Work and change: our Ox reading starts with Chou–Wei opposition. Suppose a move brings you closer to work but farther from family help. We would compare the freedom you gain with the support you need to replace. A change can be worthwhile and still deserve a careful goodbye to what has helped you so far.

Money and commitments: if an invitation, course or shared project appeals to you, ask what continuing it would involve. Rat’s emphasis on an unstated condition may be useful when a generous offer carries an expectation about your time. The actual terms matter more than a general claim that your year is lucky.

Emotional life: Goat’s animal-return year can be a moment to recognise continuity as well as change. You might renew a friendship, return to a place that matters, or give yourself permission to stop measuring this year against where you thought you would be. A meaningful milestone does not have to be a dramatic one.

2027 Chinese zodiac dates: Lunar New Year and Li Chun

The Hong Kong Observatory identifies 2027 as Ding Wei. Lunar New Year is February 6, and the following Lunar New Year is January 26, 2028. Thus January 1 through February 5, 2027 still belongs to the preceding Horse lunar year, while January 1 through January 25, 2028 remains within the Goat lunar year.

Ding is conventionally Yin Fire and Wei the Goat branch associated with Earth. That is why the year is commonly called Fire Goat. Sheep and Ram are alternative English names for the same zodiac animal, not additional signs to choose between.

Li Chun occurs on February 4 in the Observatory’s 2027 table. Many BaZi methods use its exact transition as the year-pillar boundary rather than Lunar New Year. A near-boundary birth requires the birth time, place, time zone and a declared method. The animal-year articles here use Lunar New Year as their stated calendar reference.

When you want to explore your own chart

A year-animal article starts with the branch of the birth-year pillar. BaZi takes the day stem as its central reference and also reads the birth season, the remaining pillars and the period under discussion. Two Goat readers can therefore share Wei while having different Day Masters and different seasonal support. A repeated animal identifies one correspondence; the remaining information determines how a practitioner interprets it.

For example, Wood generates Fire, while Fire generates Earth. The same annual Ding therefore has different roles relative to different Day Masters. This is one reason we would explore your actual chart before deciding what an element means for you personally.

For a 2027 Gregorian–lunar date or solar-term date, consult the Observatory calendar linked below. For family arrangements use the Lunar New Year guide, and for the stem–branch name read the Fire Goat guide. The birth-year reference helps identify the year associated with a birth.

Frequently asked questions

What Chinese zodiac animal is 2027?

2027 is the Ding Wei Fire Goat year, also called the Year of the Sheep or Ram. Under the Lunar New Year convention, it runs from February 6, 2027 through January 25, 2028.

Which Chinese zodiac signs have supportive relationships in 2027?

Horse forms a six-combination pair with Goat. Rabbit and Pig share the Hai–Mao–Wei Wood grouping with Goat. We use these as starting points for cooperation and connection, while distinguishing a partial grouping from a complete configuration. A supportive relationship is a theme to explore, not a guarantee that every part of life will be easy.

What should Ox and Rat pay attention to in 2027?

Ox has the Chou–Wei clash; Rat the Zi–Wei harm relationship. We use the first to examine change and the support it affects, and the second to examine a commitment that depends on an unstated condition. These are different questions, so the practical advice should differ too.

Is 2027 unlucky for Goat?

It is Goat’s animal-return year, or ben ming nian. We would treat that as an invitation to mark what matters to you. Wei is not in the conventional self-punishment list used here; the repeated animal alone does not establish an adverse personal outcome.

Do Rabbit and Pig automatically form a Wood configuration in 2027?

Hai, Mao and Wei form the full grouping. A Rabbit or Pig birth-year branch alongside annual Wei supplies only two members. The cited method distinguishes that partial connection from a completed transformation; our readings retain the different flourishing, growth and storage roles.

Can I use a lucky colour or a small ritual to mark the year?

A colour, keepsake or personal ritual can be a meaningful reminder of an intention. We have not derived an individual lucky colour from your birth-year animal here. Choose something you enjoy if it helps you remember what you want to nurture; it does not need to become a purchase or a promise of protection.

How is 2027 different from the 2026 Fire Horse year?

Bing Wu in 2026 pairs Yang Fire with Horse; Ding Wei in 2027 pairs Yin Fire with Goat. Our 2026 reading emphasises expression and taking part, while our 2027 reading asks what sustains your chosen commitments. The branch relationships also change: Horse, for example, moves from its own animal year to a combination with Goat.
