Follow the five-phase arrows, change yin and yang lines to form the eight trigrams, and compare dream scenes through three river examples.

Five phases: two different relationships

Generation follows wood, fire, earth, metal and water. Control moves two places along that order. Switch the relationship and select a phase to trace its arrow. Control is not automatically bad, nor is generation automatically beneficial.

Wood generates Fire

  • Wood → Fire (generates)
  • Fire → Earth (generates)
  • Earth → Metal (generates)
  • Metal → Water (generates)
  • Water → Wood (generates)

Basis: generating and overcoming relationships in Bai Hu Tong, Five Elements. Positions are a teaching arrangement, not compass directions or a person's chart. Read the primary text

Trigrams: read the lines from bottom to top

Three lines, each yin or yang, give eight combinations. A solid line is yang; a broken line is yin. The first line is at the bottom. Toggle a line to compare the name and natural image. This does not assign Early or Later Heaven directions or turn a click into divination.

Zhen · Thunder

Bottom to top: yang → yin → yin

All eight combinations (bottom → top)
  • ☳ Zhen · Thunder · yang / yin / yin
  • ☲ Li · Fire · yang / yin / yang
  • ☱ Dui · Lake · yang / yang / yin
  • ☰ Qian · Heaven · yang / yang / yang
  • ☷ Kun · Earth · yin / yin / yin
  • ☴ Xun · Wind · yin / yang / yang
  • ☵ Kan · Water · yin / yang / yin
  • ☶ Gen · Mountain · yin / yin / yang

Dream reading: scene → association → evidence boundary

The same river image calls for different questions when the plot or feeling changes. Select a hypothetical example. This shows a learning process; it does not analyze or store your dreams.

  1. 1 · Recalled scene

Crossed with help; relief at the end.

  2. 2 · Tentative association

Ask about support or reaching an endpoint, if that fits the dreamer's own association.

  3. 3 · What it cannot establish

Does not guarantee success in a real project.

An original teaching model, not a personal inference algorithm derived from a classical text. The water-dream article explains the historical comparison and differing plots.
